Stainless steel fence with porcelain enamel overlays, Cesar Chavez Esplanade, Austin, TX
2007
The art fence tells the story of repeated catastrophic flooding in downtown Austin. The stainless panels depict objects caught in overflowing river water. The overlaid porcelain enamel photographs, all scenes of flood and mayhem that occurred in the vicinity of the esplanade (1911-1962), were selected from the Austin History Center.
