I have been part of the world of public art since 1996 when I jumped unknowingly into my first large scale project with Harborview Hospital, Seattle, WA. It was an exciting education, and so I’ve gone on to complete more than 35 projects, big and small.
The projects I have undertaken have been based in my studio world of flora, fauna, and imagination. What distinguishes this arena from pure studio endeavors is an interest in anchoring each project to the site it inhabits through a cultural, historic, or natural science link. It is always my desire to build a project that is locally relevant, while maintaining the look of my hand. The very public, democratic nature of public art has been an abiding pull.
